Tuesdays and Thursdays we take some time to reflect on the previous day’s post with the help of some visual inspiration.
According to God’s Word, renewing the mind is the path to transformation (Romans 12:2) and to getting the righteousness that we have on the inside to actually show up on the outside (Ephesians 4:22-24).
Don’t be confused though. Renewing the mind is more than just reading God’s Word in order to know His will and then attempting to do it, hoping the awareness will influence our behavior. It isn’t about becoming mindful of the things He wants you to do for Him, but to become ‘mind full’ of the remarkable things He has done for you.
Yes, do search His Word…to discover what those things are. He has made you righteous and holy. When your mind thinks anything contrary to what His Word says is true of you, renew it! Renew your mind…to the truth about you.
Like the Jewish brethren spoken of in Acts 11, we too need to change some old mindsets and ways of thinking. The Jews were accustomed to thinking of the Gentiles as unclean, but when they realized that salvation was no longer by race but by grace, they had to renew their minds to a new reality. God had done a work and as a result, God gave instructions to them that we must also heed.
…What God has cleansed, no longer consider unholy. Acts 11:9
God has done a marvelous, cleansing work in us. Renew your mind to that, and it will make you as clean on the outside as you’ve been made on the inside!
