Today I want to wish you a Happy Valentines Day with a small reminder. There’s one thing I’ve learned about love. It doesn’t necessarily look like what you think it should look like….but that doesn’t mean it’s not love. It’s not always red roses, pink hearts, candlelight and boxed chocolate. Look for it in unexpected places, expressing itself in unconventional ways.
Sometimes the greatest gifts we’re given are not wrapped with paper and ribbon. They may not be flowery words, but patient silence when we deserve rebuke; being listened to when we ourselves have turned a deaf ear; someone staying with us when their leaving would be warranted. Don’t be blinded to real love by the commercially romanticized version. We know the greatest expression of love involved not red roses, but red blood…not pink hearts, but a broken heart…not candlelight and chocolate, but darkness and sour wine. I John 4:10
Let’s not fail to recognize true love today…and every day.
Just because someone doesn’t love you the way you want them to doesn’t mean they don’t love you with all they have. Unknown
This is so true! Such a great reminder….and I really like the fact that there isn’t any red or pink in that photo!
Concerning this post…thank you for commenting; concerning the photo… thank you for noticing; concerning love…THANK YOU for yours!
Lis ~ The eloquence of your words create a beautiful gift……and the picture you choose is always the perfect ribbon on top. I’m very grateful for your diligence, perseverance, and most of all for allowing the love of our amazing Father to flow in you and through you……in your life, and now in these posts. As I’ve told you many times, your writing is truly annointed……and I’m very thankful you’re sharing your gift. You are so loved and appreciated!
Jan, Thank you so much for your kind words. The comparison you made in your comment means a lot coming from you, “the ultimate gift-giver”! I’m so thankful that the posts are a blessing to you…especially since you have been and are such a blessing to me. You are truly a gift to our family AND to the family of God. May we each employ the gifts we’ve received to minister to others. Thank you for your encouragement, support, and your constant belief in me. God knows… and you know…I’ve needed it. I love you.
