Tuesdays and Thursdays we take some time to reflect on the previous day’s post with the help of some visual inspiration.
Even though I hadn’t seen how God could bring fruitfulness from my perpetual barrenness, He again confounded me with a verse in Isaiah 54. Nevertheless, God was beginning to get through to me with the truth about fruit bearing.
“Sing, O barren one, who did not bear; break forth into singing and cry aloud, you who have not been in labor! For the children of the desolate one will be more than the children of her who is married,” says the LORD. Isaiah 54:1
It took me a very long time to make the connection between this promise and my battle with sin, guilt, and condemnation. The situation described in Isaiah 54 looks impossible for one who is without a husband, without one to provide seed unto the fruit of the womb promised here. Likewise, my having ability to bear fruit seemed an impossible dream. However, Isaiah goes on to say,
“For your husband is your Maker, Whose name is the LORD of hosts.” Isaiah 54:5
Little did I know, I too had everything I needed in order to be fruitful.
