The Me You Can’t See

The Me You Can’t See

Genesis 2, 5  ~ The Day Adam Died

Unwilling to make a false argument which would release me from accountability, and knowing I surely was misunderstanding something about Paul’s statements in Romans, I headed back to Genesis only to find more light that would take me another step closer to the freedom I longed for.  Again, I began reading the story of Adam and Eve…Continue reading

The Blame Game?

Romans 7 ~ Was Paul ‘Copping Out’ ?

The things I had discovered in Genesis were indeed helping me to some degree. I was thankful for what I’d been made aware of thus far, but was still puzzled as to how to bear the good fruit God expected of me. I had learned what didn’t work but was still clueless as to what did.Continue reading

Shout For Joy, O Barren One

Shout For Joy, O Barren One

Tuesdays and Thursdays we take some time to reflect on the previous day’s post with the help of some visual inspiration.

Even though I hadn’t seen how God could bring fruitfulness from my perpetual barrenness, He again confounded me with a verse in Isaiah 54.  Nevertheless, God was beginning to get through to me with the truth about fruit bearing.Continue reading

Genesis 2, 3 ~ The Surprising Effect of Adam’s Sin

Still looking for a solution to my fruitless life, my search for answers continues…

Several things about this story in Genesis had correlated with my own struggle.  I’d seen that, like Eve, partaking of the knowledge of good and evil in me was not getting me closer to my goal of being like God.  I had thought it would, seemingly just like she had, but I also had been deceived. Continue reading

Genesis 2 ~ The Real Lie Eve Fell For

Good and evil.  Yes, I’d heard those two words used before.  Two little words used far back in the very beginning.  They first appear at the start of man’s existence…all the way back in the Garden of Eden.  I wasn’t sure what I’d find in this first account of history that would be relevant to my history, but I headed to Genesis to find out.

Two Little Words

Two Little Words

Forgiveness is a wonderful thing, but still I couldn’t see my way out of the sin that so easily beset me.  I knew the Lord required a life of holiness. When reading the Bible I saw it everywhere I looked.Continue reading

He Calms the Storm

He Calms the Storm

Tuesdays and Thursdays we take some time to reflect on the previous day’s post with the help of some visual inspiration.

At times we might feel much like those in that storm-tossed boat with the apostle Paul that day, attempting to make it to Rome.

When neither sun nor stars appeared for many days, and no small tempest lay on us, all hope of our being saved was at last abandoned.  Acts 27:20

That is precisely how I felt as I struggled to escape the darkness of my failures.  After years of unsuccessful effort I finally lost hope.  But thankfully God had not…for He knows how to calm the storm.

You can read or re-read The Tempest of Trying that corresponds with today’s image.

…My Story continues here

The Tempest of Trying

The Tempest of Trying

The do’s of the Bible seem endless. My own struggle in attempting to be a doer of the Word appeared endless too. Here begins the telling of the slow but, thank God, sure process of my discovering how to finally get freedom in this area.

My sharing about this will likely develop slowly.  God knows the liberating revelation came slowly enough. It took years. I honestly thought my struggle would never end. Continue reading

Sufficient Funds

Sufficient Funds

We’ve been concentrating on our need to shift our mindset concerning the Word of God from thinking of it as a debt we owe to it being a record of our assets.  But when reading the Bible it is undeniable that there are numerous do’s in the New Testament.

What are we to do with the “do’s“?Continue reading

No More Debt Mindset

No More Debt Mindset

Many of us have come to realize the glorious reality revealed by the apostle Paul in Romans 6:14 that we are not under law. It is positively liberating to know that we are exempt from the dictates and requirements recorded by Moses in the Old Testament.  And we say we are free.  But how free are we really?Continue reading
